Final Collection
My final collection: A creative look into the decade of the 1920's in which fashion entered the modern world, investigating through design the detailed decoration of Flapper costumes, translating this into print and textile ideas, whilst exploring the typical androgynous look and masculine silhouette of the era.
Taking inspiration from the embellished costumes led me to look at the use of sequins and fringing but using them in a way that is not obvious of the era. My prints developed from copies of sequined fabric which i created by screen, layering up the images. The dip dyeing of the fringing led me to create a graphic lined effect which in turn reflected the gradient of colour.
The silhouettes took on a masculine oversized role, keeping all garments straight and boxy by incorporating a 'framed' theme throughout.
